When it was revealed way back that there was a surviving member of the Ala Mhigan royal family, a nephew called Theodred, speculation abound as to where he might be found. Speaking of Stormblood hype, all you Monks out there will remember Widargelt, a stoic and single-minded member of the Fist of Rhalgr and the Ala Mhigan Resistance, who played off the learned yet patronizing scholar Erik. Combine this with the Yda-related reveals of patch 3.4, and we have the makings of some serious hype.Ģ) Widargelt is a lost prince of Ala Mhigo Where, we now wonder, is the sister now? Did she join Yda in studying in Sharlayan, or venture elsewhere? How does this overlap with their father being a Resistance member in Little Ala Mhigo when Yda was young (but not so young that she couldn’t volunteer for missions)? Or does it not overlap at all - did the sisters look similar enough that one could pose in place of the other? With so much left unanswered, it seems nearly guaranteed that this mysterious sister will be making an appearance in 4.0, and quite possible she will be at least discussed as early as 3.5. The technical term for that is “a f***ing tease.“ Nor do I think the fact is thrown around randomly - no other profile in the book casually mentions a key character having a sibling, then notably refrains from giving any further details about them. The whole “is it Yda or is it Yda’s sister” speculation surrounding the Stormblood trailer isn’t just pulled out of our asses we oh-so-coincidentally found out that our favorite masked pugilist left Ala Mhigo and arrived in Sharlayan with a sibling the same day the trailer was first shown. If you have yet to receive your copy, or even if you have yet to complete your read-through of the entire mammoth tome, we at MuseCast have compiled what we believe are the biggest - though not always the best - must-know facts for every Eorzea enthusiast.ġ) Yda’s backstory is a huge tease for Stormblood Even with its release as yet relatively limited, through those generous enough to post scans and photographs online, the effect on the FFXIV lore and RP communities has been monumental - as we discussed previously on Episode 10. Copies of the much anticipated “Encyclopaedia Eorzea” lore book have been slowly trickling their way into players’ hands, whether to the lucky few who snagged one at FanFest Las Vegas, or to those who have since ordered it online (from Square Enix, we hope, not from eBay).
